Steven Peskind, MD
Ear, Nose, Throat and Allergy Specialist
My Philosophy:
My goal as your physician is to be an empathetic listener through which I can better understand your health concerns. I want you to partner with me in analyzing your health care concerns as we work together to address them. I am conservative in approach, both in medication and in surgical recommendations. I have chosen my staff and created my office atmosphere to support this philosophy.
I accept that part of the root meaning of the word ‘doctor’ is as a teacher, and I will do the best that I can to educate you about your health concerns. I also understand the role of self-care in both looking for factors that contribute to health problems and helping to heal them.
My Medical Training:
I am a native of Dallas and received much of my medical training in Texas. I completed my undergraduate degree in honors liberal arts Plan II from the University of Texas at Austin where I graduated as a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude. I completed my medical degree at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in 1988.
In order to broaden my life experience, I completed my internship and residency in Otolaryngology (Ear, Nose and Throat) at Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center from 1988-1993. After completing my residency, I did a fellowship in facial plastic surgery at the LSU Medical Center in Shreveport where I stayed on as faculty from 1993 to 1995. Through advanced postgraduate work and courses, I became a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy. I have been in private practice in this area since 1995.
My practice:
Since being in private practice, I have focused on common problems of the ear, nose, throat, and sinuses for children and adults. I also provide treatment for allergic conditions such as allergic rhinitis.
I also serve as Medical Director of Enhanced Hearing Professionals which dispenses hearing aids, listening devices and custom ear plugs.

I am also interested in the role of our mind and body as a contributor to our health and to illness and have pursued advanced education with the Center for Mind and Body Medicine in Washington, D.C. Most recently I have expanded these interests by working with health care providers in New Orleans dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my wife and two teenage daughters, fishing and traveling.
